The construction of the Oyasato-yakata building-complex has been under way since 1954. When completed, this will be a grand structure with sixty-eight interconnected wings, built on a periphery of a quadrangle centering around the Jiba and measuring 873 meters on each side. This construction is based on the following words of Oyasama: "Someday this neighborhood will be filled with houses. Houses will line the street for seven ri [28 kilometers] between Nara and Hase. One ri square will be filled with inns. The divine Residence will become eight cho square." The purpose of constructing this building-complex is to build a model of the world of the Joyous Life in the Home the Parent, in which human beings, who are God's children, live a life of joy and harmony. Since the Joyous Life cannot be realized without spiritual growth, Tenrikyo stresses the need for "spiritual construction" to precede material construction.

Thus far, twenty-six wings of this building-complex have been completed. (as of November 26, 2007) These are used as facilities for the study of the teachings, accommodations for followers, a hospital, and educational institutions.
