Former Shinbashira Addresses Representatives of Followers Dormitories

On June 29, the Tenrikyo Tsumeshokai (association comprising followers dormitories) held its annual convention at Moya 38. Honored by the presence of the former Shinbashira for the first time, the convention drew 202 participants, most of whom were directors of followers dormitories. The association aims to promote followers' learning and implementation of the teachings at their respective dormitories as well as to improve the management of those dormitories.

Following some opening remarks and a progress report, the former Shinbashira took the lectern to deliver his address. He said: "To convey the intention of the Parent thoroughly to those who return to Jiba in adoration of the Parent is, I believe, one of the very tasks assigned to followers dormitories." Quoting the Divine Directions concerning the pilgrimage to Jiba, he explained its meaning by saying: "Pilgrimage to Jiba is one of the ways in which we can carry out our contribution and dedication. If the significance of the pilgrimage to Jiba lies in our sincerity in desiring to respond to the intention of the Parent by returning to Jiba, the pilgrimage to Jiba is nothing less than an expression of contribution and dedication." Regarding the attitude that should be those who manage followers dormitories, he went on to say, "Those who return to Jiba are drawn by God the Parent and Oyasama. Taking this to heart, we ought to look after and pay proper attention to the followers." In closing, he asked the listeners to exert their utmost efforts to take care of followers who return to Jiba so that they can make the most of the pilgrimage.
