Disaster Relief Hinokishin Corps Mobilized in Areas Struck by Typhoon Lionrock

On August 30, a Category-4 typhoon Lionrock struck the Tohoku region (Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture). Due to Typhoon Lionrock, homes were flooded and rivers overflowed, causing floods in several areas of Iwate Prefecture and Hokkaido.

Under these circumstances, help from the Disaster Relief Hinokishin Corps (Lead by Isafumi Tanaka) was requested by the municipalities of Iwate Prefecture and Hokkaido to dispatch both the Iwate and Hokkaido corps. They made great efforts to clear up gutters and ditches by the roads, and removed mud that flowed into public facilities.
