International Meeting of Prayer for Peace

The International Meeting of Prayer for Peace, which gathers major religious groups to pray for peace, was held in Antwerp, Belgium from September 7 to 9. Among some 350 participants were religious leaders, scholars, and government officials from many parts of the world.  There were nine Tenrikyo delegates including Honbu-in Noriaki Nagao, Europe Centre Head Yoshihisa Hasegawa, and Dai-Roma Mission Station Head Hideo Yamaguchi.

Under the theme “Peace is the Future,” the meeting organized twenty-five panel sessions, and on the second day of the event, Rev. Nagao served as a panelist in a session entitled “Asia: Religions and the Dignity of Human Life.” In his speech, Rev. Nagao emphasized the importance of life while explaining the core essence of the Tenrikyo teachings.
