The Service (2)

The Story of Creation

I believe that the story of creation explains how the performance of the Service brings us the blessings for universal salvation. This is to say that a clear understanding of the story of creation provides us with a clear understanding of the truth of the Service, the way to create the Joyous Life World, and the attitude we are to take in order to achieve our goal.

The Harmonious Union

The performance of the Service is a manifestation of the harmonious union brought about by each Service performer. The Joyous Life is a manifestation of joyousness attained by each person, and only when the individual's joyousness is united with one another's can the world of the Joyous Life be savored. The connection between the performance of the Service and the Joyous Life becomes clear to us when we understand the way in which God the Parent worked during creation, or the truth of the Service, which Oyasama clarified in order to make us understand Her parental intention in teaching the Service.

I suspect that even those of you assembled here might consider the Kagura Service to be the concern of only those who are directly affiliated to Church Headquarters. Please be well aware, however, that it concerns all people. It is true that only ten people take part in its performance. But I should like you to remember that it is only when the Service performers bring their minds into unity that God the Parent accepts the Service being performed as the path of universal salvation. I feel this implies that when all of us--not only the Service performers but also worshipers--melt into God the Parent's heart and devote ourselves sincerely to the performance of the Service, the truth of the Service becomes truly effective.

What is it that the Salvation Service teaches us? It is, I should say, how to create the Joyous Life for all humankind in accordance with the truth of creation. In addition, the Kagura Service teaches us that one person alone can never create the Joyous Life for all people. Only when we work together with a unity of mind in our interactions with one another will the Joyous Life arise of its own accord. It is our working together with one another that will, through God the Parent's blessings, give rise to the Joyous Life for all humankind.

I feel that since we human beings cannot live alone, Oyasama taught the Service in order to show us how to generate harmony, joyousness, and radiance in our relationship with one another, thereby enabling us to enjoy living together. I believe this to be the parental intention of Oyasama.

World Peace

The blessings to be given through the performance of the Service cover every field of our life. To put it differently, if we desire a peaceful life for all people, or if we want all countries and all people to help one another and live together in peace, I am positive that we have no choice but to depend upon the Service.

The Teodori, the Dance with Hand Movements

What does the Teodori teach us? I feel that it teaches, in good order, how we can live joyously, or how we can reconstruct the world into the Joyous Life for all people, by freely using the mind that God the Parent gave each of us as our own.

The Teodori of the Twelve Songs can be performed at every church and anywhere else, not to mention at the Jiba of Origin. I believe this implies that if we awaken to the blessings of God the Parent and Oyasama, we shall be granted the Joyous Life so desired by the Parent wherever we are.

The Mikagura-uta, The Songs for the Service

I feel that the Mikagura-uta is easy to learn and remember because of the way it is taught and thus can it serve as our guide along the path. Upon hearing the tune, a small child who is barely able to speak may start dancing by mimicking the hand movements. A child who is too young to know what she is singing may sing a tune from the Mikagura-uta. If a child grows up hearing the Mikagura-uta, she will come to learn the songs by heart. If we learn it by heart, some of its verses may come to mind when we encounter a knot in life, thereby giving us strength to keep our spirits up and even enabling us to find a solution to a problem. For this reason, I feel that the Mikagura-uta can be considered to be the songs for single-hearted salvation.
