Divine Model (2)

The Meaning of "Falling to the Depths of Poverty"

How should we interpret the fact that Oyasama fell to the depths of poverty? What did God the Parent intend to teach us by having Her do so? My answer is that God the Parent intended to teach us that in order to follow the path toward the Joyous Life, it is important for us to forget the greed we all have in our mind. This is to say that Oyasama fell to the depths of poverty in order to demonstrate a means of forgetting greed.

Three Years, One Thousand Days

In a Divine Direction, Oyasama tells us in effect: "You might not be able to take the path if I tell you to follow for fifty years or thirty years. It will be good if you follow the path for just three years. I tell you to follow the path for just one thousand days." Indeed, the path of Oyasama's Divine Model can be followed by anyone who has a mind to follow it. Oyasama's instruction, therefore, is an expression of the loving care of the Parent, who wants us to be clearly aware that the path of Her Divine Model is meant specifically for us to follow and who wants us to give it a try. She does not have the slightest intention of making us carry a heavy burden or putting us through sufferings.

The Hardest Task

What was it that Oyasama took the greatest pains to do during the fifty years of Her Divine Model? Upon quiet reflection, I feel that it was to raise people. I should imagine that to raise people into Yoboku was the hardest task even for Oyasama.

The Role Oyasama Played Alone

We are very fortunate. Consider, for example, how many people are assembled here today. The number may still be relatively small, but there are actually thousands of Oyasama's followers assembled here. At the outset of the path, however, there was no one who would listen to Oyasama or who understood Her. Nevertheless, though She had nothing to depend upon, She lightheartedly went through the path alone, playing the important role of bearing and raising followers.

The Path to Respond to Oyasama's Love

What does it specifically mean to follow Oyasama's Divine Model of single-hearted salvation? It means precisely that by making the maximum use of the bodies we were lent, we follow, with gratitude, the path that brings joy to God the Parent, the path that brings joy to others. This is to say that we commit ourselves to sprinkling the fragrance of the teachings and doing salvation work. In addition, we must put our utmost sincerity into performing the Service, the path to universal salvation, which Oyasama continued urging us to perform throughout the fifty years of Her path.

Different Labels for Oyasama's Path

We use various labels when referring to Oyasama's path. In addition to "Oyasama's path," we say, for instance, "the path to complete the Service," "the path toward the Joyous Life," "the path of single-hearted salvation," "the path of the Divine Model," and "the true path." All these labels came to mind just now. Surely, there are more. We are taught the various truths shown by Her path through these labels.
